The latest update
Implementation is now underway in rural KwaZulu-Natal.
In December, iThemba Kuluntu travelled to Pietermaritzburg to train Gift of the Givers teams on the PureFlow Amanzi bucket water filtration system, alongside a Safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) education programme designed for rural communities.
During the week-long rollout, water filter systems were distributed and WASH education delivered to more than 300 families across multiple rural communities — helping households use the system correctly and reduce the risk of waterborne illness.
What began as a radio competition is now delivering real impact — with safe water flowing where it’s needed most.
