Hunger can’t wait and neither can we.

This Mandela Day, The Star Foundation joined forces with SA Harvest by donating 67 buckets filled with non-perishable items worth R500 per bucket and we helped them pack and distribute over 300 buckets.

SA Harvest is running an initiative called the #BucketsofNutrition challenge. The mission is to pack as many buckets as possible filled with essential, non-perishable food items in 67 minutes to support families in need in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

In a world where many go to bed hungry, organizations like SA Harvest are beacons of hope, transforming lives through their tireless efforts. By rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to those in need, they ensure that every act of kindness and support contributes to a brighter future where no one worries about their next meal.

Established in 2019, SA Harvest’s mission is to eradicate hunger in South Africa with a groundbreaking strategy. They address the immediate food security crisis by rescuing nutritious food destined for landfills and delivering it, free of charge, to those in need. Additionally, they tackle the systemic causes of hunger and use advanced technology to enhance the efficiency and scalability of their efforts.

To date, they have delivered over 58 million meals, benefited 200 organizations and rescued 17 million kg of food that would have gone to landfills.
